Long Live a Legend

The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do ~Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bean Bryant is the G.O.A.T. He is the G.O.A.T. in basketball. He is the G.O.A.T. in work ethic. He is the G.O.A.T. of wanting greatness implemented in everything that he did. And sadly, Kobe lost his life in the process of implementing the characteristics of being a G.O.A.T. Many people mourned the death of Kobe and his daughter Gianna (along with seven other people) because the death felt unreal. If you are between the ages of 39-45, Kobe was like you’re your cousin or best friend that you wished you had. You watched him from his feature on ESPN, his draft, his first championship, all the way to his retirement. You watched the good, the bad, and the ugly that he encountered during his time. But overall, we saw a man who stood the test of time by setting goals for himself and getting them accomplished- which is part of he would call the Mamba Mentality.

Kobe left a very big footprint on the world. He not only wrote the book on greatness, he even read a few chapters from the book to us. I can’t speak for you, but for me, his death took a toll on me. Not only was he my favorite basketball player, but he was also one of my favorite people. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, I felt that there was an ethical connection between us. Kobe gave me the motivation to pursue my goals. Even when I felt that things were not going my way, I never gave. I became hungry in life and continued to pile my plate so that I can secure my hunger. Kobe taught me, that everyone is not going to like you when you are in the zone. He taught me that even though I will make sacrifices, it is important to remember the people who truly love you and want the best for you.

Although Kobe is no longer with us, his legacy is still with us. The blueprint of his work ethic and how to get it down is still available for us to implement it in our life. As I continue the path that has been designated for me to become, whenever I feel like giving up, whenever I feel like I am procrastinating…..I will just reflect on 8-24.
